The pressure is on for the U.S. to develop hypersonic weapons as Russia and China rapidly advance in the field. However, even as the Trump and Biden administrations have fast-tracked hypersonic development, technical challenges abound and questions about costs and priorities remain. Meanwhile, despite some experts citing adversary weapons as the bigger threat, hypersonic defense can go overlooked from research and budget perspective.
