Lessons from Ukraine: Future of Open Source Intelligence

In early 2022 the U.S. made the unconventional decision to publicly share intelligence regarding Russia’s buildup near the Ukrainian border. The even more surprising thing? This intelligence came from publicly available images sourced from commercial satellites. The war in Ukraine has thrown a spotlight on open source intelligence and just how actionable this publicly and commercially available information is. This session will look at the impact that not only Ukraine may have on future OSINT integration in analyses but also that OSINT may have on broader classification reform.
